Michael Carrick: No timeline for Benjamin Sesko’s Man United return

Carrick Gives Šeško Injury Update as Manchester United Face Uncertain Return Date

Manchester United will be without Benjamin Šeško against Tottenham, with Michael Carrick unable to put a date on the striker’s return following a fresh shin injury.

The 23-year-old missed United’s 1–1 draw with Fulham before the international break and subsequently withdrew from Slovenia’s squad. The latest setback affects a similar area to the problem that kept him out for three months over the summer, although Carrick stressed that it is a different injury.

United Still Assessing Šeško’s Recovery

Speaking on Friday ahead of Tottenham’s visit to Old Trafford, Carrick confirmed that United were still assessing how long the forward would need to recover.

“It’s not the exact issue, it’s a similar area, but it’s not the exact same thing again,” Carrick said.

“We’re kind of still working through it a little bit to see how long the issue will be. We’re hoping that it’ll be soon, obviously, but at this moment it’s still not quite clear.”

Dorgu Faces Several Weeks Out, Mazraoui a Doubt

Šeško is not United’s only injury concern following the international break. Patrick Dorgu suffered a hamstring injury while playing for Denmark and is expected to miss several weeks.

“Patrick came off and looks like he’ll be out for probably a number of weeks,” Carrick said.

Noussair Mazraoui is also doubtful for the Tottenham match after taking a knock. Carrick said the defender had not yet fully recovered and would need further assessment before a decision on his availability.

Baleba Could Make His First United Appearance

There is a more encouraging update on Carlos Baleba, who could feature for the first time since joining United from Brighton in the summer. Carrick said the midfielder had improved and completed a substantial amount of training.

Amad, Marcus Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo have also taken part in some training, although Carrick stopped short of confirming whether they would be ready to play.

“Amad’s done a little bit of training, Marcus [Rashford] has done a little bit of training, Kobbie [Mainoo] has done a little bit of training. So, a little bit mixed really between the group.”

United head into the Tottenham fixture with several selection decisions still unresolved. Šeško and Dorgu will be absent, while the availability of other players will depend on their progress ahead of the match.
