Scott McTominay Set for Two-Week Absence After Successful Heart Procedure
Napoli midfielder Scott McTominay has undergone successful corrective surgery after being diagnosed with a minor heart rhythm issue.
The Scotland international was found to have a mild, benign arrhythmia, an irregular heartbeat that doctors considered non-serious. The procedure took place at Spire Manchester Hospital on Tuesday.

Napoli Confirm the Operation Was a Success
Napoli confirmed that McTominay underwent an ablation procedure and will rest for two weeks before returning to training.
“The operation was a complete success. McTominay will rest for two weeks and then resume training.”
The midfielder is expected to return after the international break, although the short-term absence means he will miss Napoli’s Champions League opener against Arsenal.
Scotland Also Without McTominay
McTominay will also miss the opening matches of Sebastien Pocognoli’s reign as Scotland head coach. The fixtures include two Nations League meetings with Slovenia, followed by games against Switzerland and North Macedonia.
His absence is a setback for both club and country, but the successful procedure and planned two-week recovery period should allow the 29-year-old to return to action without a lengthy interruption.
Napoli’s Position in the Serie A Race
McTominay’s absence comes at an important stage of Napoli’s domestic and European campaign. The midfielder has become an influential part of the team since moving to Italy, and his recovery will be monitored closely as the club competes in Serie A and the Champions League.
