Vinícius Faces Growing Pressure as Mourinho Begins Real Madrid Return

The Bernabéu Is Starting to Lose Patience with Vinícius

Vinícius Júnior is once again under intense scrutiny at Real Madrid. The Brazilian forward has struggled to reproduce his best form, and some of his recent performances have been met with whistles from sections of the Santiago Bernabéu crowd.

With José Mourinho now in charge, the pressure carries even greater significance. The Portuguese coach has a squad full of elite options and will not hesitate to make difficult decisions if he believes the team needs a change.

Former goalkeeper Esteban Suárez believes Vinícius understands that his reputation alone cannot guarantee a place in the starting XI.

“Vinícius is smart and he does not throw his hands up. He knows Mourinho will take him off, and there will be people applauding. There are people who cannot wait for Vinícius not to play,” Suárez said on Onda Cero’s Radioestadio Noche.

A Strong Warning About Mourinho

Suárez believes Mourinho would have no problem dropping Vinícius if he feels that is the best decision for Real Madrid.

“Mourinho is not going to stay quiet. He might make mistakes, but if he has to take Vinícius out, he will,” Suárez said.

The former goalkeeper also suggested that some people around Vinícius may have made the situation more difficult by defending and excusing too many of the player’s actions.

“A lot of people have hurt Vinícius by praising and excusing too many of the things he has done,” Suárez added.

Mbappé Adds More Pressure on Vinícius

Kylian Mbappé has changed the attacking dynamic at Real Madrid. The French forward now attracts much of the club’s sporting and media attention, while Vinícius is trying to rediscover the form that made him one of the team’s most decisive players.

Suárez believes that constant comparisons with Mbappé could make Vinícius’s situation even more challenging.

“Everyone talks about Mbappé, and everyone is starting to question Vinícius and whistle him. I do not know whether he will have the character to overcome it,” Suárez said.

Mourinho has not announced any decision regarding the Brazilian, and Suárez’s comments represent his own assessment. However, with pressure from the Bernabéu, Mbappé’s growing prominence and fierce competition within the squad, Vinícius will need to respond on the pitch.
